Renowned battle painter. Twice winner of the Stalin Prize: in 1948 for the creation of the diorama "Forcing the Dnieper by the Soviet Army in 1943" (now in the collection of the State Artillery Museum in St. Petersburg) and in 1952 - for the painting "Meeting of the State Committee for the Defense of the Country". Graduated from the Kharkov Art Institute in the painting workshop of Professor Semyon Prokhorov. In 1941, he volunteered for the front. Participated in the battles for Berlin, stormed the Reichstag in 1945. From 1946 he worked in the Studio of military artists M.B. Grekov. He also created a number of portraits of his contemporaries, a series of landscapes of the Moscow region. The artist's works have been acquired by domestic and foreign galleries (USA, Germany, Italy).
